I had been told about “Harold’s” on several occasions. The perfect spot for fried chicken, the crispy batter, nothing greasy and the delicious homemade sauces that accompany it. Everyone said it was the real American fried chicken in Madrid.
When people know you’re doing this, you get messages every day exposing the virtues or shortcomings of lots of places in Madrid.
As so many people could not be wrong, I went to meet the restaurant “Harold’s” (New Orleans), open in Madrid since 2,016 and located in the neighborhood of Chueca.
Its owner, the American Jackson Howard, has worked for over 20 years in the most recognized restaurants in New Orleans and wanted to bring to Madrid the authentic American food.
The letter is reduced, very specialized and only with products from the U.S..
The great success and fame it has among the people of Madrid, is because it is not the typical tex-mex, with fake American food, but the only place in Madrid where you have the AUTHENTIC AMERICAN FRIED CHICKEN.
They cook them the moment you order them and when they are on the table, you can’t stop eating until you finish them. If you accompany the wings with a bourbon lemonade, you have an authentic southern experience, without leaving Madrid. Everything is delicious.
The prices also help the success of this place because a portion of 12 wings is 8.95 euros (the relationship between quality, quantity and price is very good).
The most requested throughout the year are the Buffalo Wings, but especially on the day of the Super Bowl, Americans living in Madrid come to pick up their wings and watch the game enjoying their favorite food. They tell me that on that day the fryers don’t stop for a second, selling up to 20,000 Buffalo wings.
You can also order the Great Sandwich of fried chicken breast, juicy and crispy in brioche bread, accompanied by fries or coleslaw for 9.95 euros.
The place is very nice, with original touches and is always very crowded, in constant movement with portions of freshly made wings and with aromas that invite you to taste them.
Delivery men arrive continuously to pick up orders of fried chicken to enjoy at home.
The great amount of public that has attracted this rich product, makes it necessary to reserve a table, especially if you plan to go to dinner or on the weekend.
